The Reach Out Mentoring Program offers youth, ages 12-18, the opportunity to be matched with a volunteer from the community (18 years and older) to get the support they need to develop life skills and receive career counseling. All mentors are pre-screened and receive training in the following areas: Inspiring motivation, setting boundaries, dealing with difficult situations, and recognizing warning signs. Trainings for mentees include research on how to apply for colleges and getting along with parents and peers. We offer free, fun, and educational monthly outings for our participants; this gives the mentors and mentees a chance to spend time together as a group while visiting, and engaging in, attractions. Some recent outings included a tour of the battleship, The U.S.S. Decatur, Cinderella Ballet, and Boomers Amusement Park. Our upcoming events include the LA Brea Tar Pits, The Petersen Automotive Museum, and The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna. If you are interested in becoming a mentor please contact
