Drug Diversion: Inland Empire and PC 1000
Drug and alcohol dependence can be the only thing standing between an individual and a fulfilling, productive and healthy lifestyle. This realization can be brought home by an arrest or a conviction – but sadly, this revelation often comes too late, when a person is already in jail, wishing they had a second chance. Drug diversion programs are designed to give those who truly wish to change an opportunity to have their charges dismissed so they can make amends to themselves, their families and society. Reach Out offers PC 1000 classes that give first time drug offenders the support and education they need to make a positive change in their lives.
Inland Empire PC 1000 Classes
Reach Out’s PC 1000 program is certified by the San Bernardino County Alcohol and Drug Services to provide drug diversion for Inland Empire individuals. PC 1000 requirements include:
• Fifteen weekly Deferred Entry of Judgment (DEJ) program sessions
• Documented attendance at 15 Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings
• Two random drug tests
• Eighteen months without another arrest or conviction
• Payment of a nominal fee
After satisfying the requirements, offenders will have their original case dismissed. PC 1000 is only for first time drug offenders over the age of 18 with no prior record. After pleading guilty, the court will refer them to a PC 1000 program.
Instead of giving up on members of the community, drug diversion programs seek to pull them back from the edge and lead them towards a fulfilling life. Far from a “get out of jail free card,” our PC 1000 classes instill the values and respect that help turn offenders into upstanding citizens. Whereas time in jail can quickly set the tone for a life of estrangement and crime, drug diversion programs help Inland Empire citizens pay their dues and begin giving back to the community.
