Third Annual Substance Abuse & Violence Policy Conference

At this exciting conference, attendees will:

  • Engage with community and elected officials
  • Improve community health and wellness
  • Learn about new drug, violence, and health trends
  • Enhance their parental toolkit
  • Develop policy strategies to address substance abuse, violence, gangs, and enhance healthy community initiatives

The conference will feature 4 simultaneous tracks:

  • Parent/Community track – provides vital information for youth, parents, educators, youth ministries, and community members
  • Policy track: emphasizes steps that local governments, key leaders and decision-makers, law enforcement, and local government can take to enact effective, proven strategies for substance abuse, violence, gangs, and community health
  • Youth track: gives youth a voice in their community by teaching advocacy, community building, and policy development skills
  • Law Enforcement track: law enforcement only for officers working in gangs, drugs, or Alcoholic Beverage Control. Free POST Certification available

We will also have a special training for providers who work with foster children, mentees, and under-prepared children.

New RFP Available for Youth Grantmakers

Do you have a program(s) that focus on youth residing in the cities of Claremont, Chino, Chino Hills, Etiwanda, Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Rialto, Montclair, Ontario, Upland, and Pomona?

Are you interested in applying for a mini grant? Click here for the guidelines
Up to $2,500 in grant funding is available to nonprofits that address issues facing youth, such as:

  1. Alcohol and Drug Use/ Underage Drinking
  2. Academic Stress
  3. College/Future Expectations
  4. Bullying
  5. Teen Pregnancy
  6. Depression

For the 3rd year, Reach Out is partnering with The Community Foundation Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties to continue the Youth Grantmakers Initiative in the West End of San Bernardino County and Pomona Valley region.  This initiative was launched in November 2008 to teach youth to meet community challenges by making grants to projects that address concerns of youth and to instill in them an ethic of volunteering and giving so they become philanthropists.

To be eligible for this grant the organization needs to be a nonprofit, under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and not classified as a private foundation.  Educational institutions are also eligible to apply.

West End Gangs and Drugs Task Force General Session Meeting!

Hello WEGDTF Members, Community Partners, & West End Residents:
Please join the WEGDTF at its upcoming General Meeting (Quarterly Meeting) on March 31st. At this upcoming meeting, we are proud to be presenting the WEGDTF Strategic Plan and we are excited to have County Board Supervisor Janice Rutherford speak on supporting the Task Force’s Strategic Plan. We are also excited to learn how the WEGDTF can support the ” A Call to Action:  Fighting the Dropout Rate” initiative.

 This is a significant meeting as the Strategic Plan will reveal the WEGDTF’s policy agenda for addressing substance abuse and gangs/violence for the next 3-5 years. The efforts that the plan will call for will impact all of the West End cities. The Strategic Plan will be centered around a comprehensive approach to addressing the issues of gangs, violence, and drugs while promoting support and collaboration throughout the West End.       

 Here’s what you can expect at the meeting:

  • The WEGDTF will unveil its Strategic Plan   
  • County Board Supervisor Janice Rutherford will speak about the County Board of Supervisor’s plans to
    support the WEGDTF Strategic Plan.  
  • The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Gary Thomas, and Jose Espinoza will talk about the
    dropout rates in the county and how the County Superintendent’s office is addressing dropout rates with the “Call to Action:  Fighting the Dropout Rate” initiative.”
