PC 1000 Classes Let Inland Empire Citizens Remain Productive Members of the Community

Oftentimes, the only thing a first time drug offender needs in order to change their lives and give back to the community is a second chance. And this is often what first time drug offenders truly wish to do: make amends by returning to society and righting their wrongs. Unfortunately, jail time often serves only to perpetuate a cycle of drug abuse and crime. Drug enforcement officials now recognize that incarceration alone is not an effective solution to breaking this cycle, and the State of California gives first offenders an opportunity to make a positive change in their lives through PC 1000 classes.

Inland Empire’s Reach Out Facility

Penal Code Section 1000 (PC 1000) allows first time drug offenders to have their cases dismissed after they have shown their good faith efforts towards becoming a productive, responsible member of the community. Jail is no place to make a clean start. Reach Out provides the education, support and community that individuals need in order to turn the corner and walk away from a life of crime unhealthy behavior by completing their PC 1000 requirements. Qualification for dismissal pursuant to PC 1000 requires:

• An age of 18 or older
• Court referral and appointment
• Nominal fee paid by enrollee
• Fifteen weekly Deferred Entry of Judgment (DEJ) program meetings
• Sixteen Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings
• Two clean random drug tests
• No arrests or convictions for 18 weeks

For over 40 years, Reach Out has been helping individuals throughout the Inland Empire and Pomona Valley turn away from drugs and alcohol and embrace a productive, positive lifestyle that enriches the communities of the Inland Empire. PC1000 Classes and drug diversion programs are just a few of the ways we are helping to strengthen communities.
