Inland Empire School-based Counseling
When students struggle in school, the root cause often lies at home. From parents who are incarcerated or divorced to drug abuse, emotional abuse or physical abuse, strife at home can translate directly to underperformance or behavioral issues at school. At Reach Out, we’ve partnered with educators to offer school-based counseling to Inland Empire students. School-based counseling is offered as a comprehensive group counseling program that provides students with the necessary skills they need to be successful in school.
During school-based counseling sessions, we focus on several key group topics:
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention/Intervention
All of our school-based counseling draws upon research-based curricula that focus on preventing drug and alcohol abuse among youth. Prevention and education are key to fostering a high quality education and a high graduation rate.
Coping with Family Changes
Divorce, grief and loss of a loved one can have lasting impacts on a student, especially if he or she is not armed with the necessary skills for coping and processing these immense changes in their lives. Our school-based counseling helps them acknowledge and come to terms with such events.
Self-Esteem and Motivation
Empowering students with the outlook and confidence that they need to achieve is an integral part of our school-based counseling. We help students develop positive motivators that instill a genuine drive to be successful in school.
Anger Management and Behavior
We help students learn to identify and control their emotions and interact with their peers, parents and teachers in a healthier manner. We teach them positive ways to cope with their feelings and conducive modes of communication that will serve them in school and beyond.
Through Reach Out’s school-based counseling, Inland Empire school districts—including Chaffey Joint Union High School District, Ontario-Montclair School District and Rialto Unified School District—can help students overcome the challenges that they face at home and come to class with positive attitudes and an eagerness to learn and achieve.
