Meetings held second Tuesday of the month, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Goals:

  1. Host an Arts Event to increase Action Team Membership and Recruitment.

  3. Conduct Beautification Projects at two schools.

Beautification Projects
Our school beautification projects are only possible with the help of generous volunteers. We are not professional artists, but we believe art is an integral part of the human experience that can change perception, attitude, and culture. We love working with our local schools to bring art, fun, and color to their campuses. We’d love to bring these things to your campus!

The Jurupa Valley Reads program promotes authors and increases community engagement with little free libraries throughout the City of Jurupa Valley! We seek out local authors who would love to read their books to Jurupa Valley residents! Due to COVID19, our efforts have been moved to digital, available for everyone to enjoy! If you’d like to learn about this project and future projects from the Arts & Recreation Action Team, and how you can get involved, please get in contact with us.  We’d love your participation, especially if you would like to read! Upcoming Story Walk
Healthy Jurupa Valley will host its first ever StoryWalk® event at the Adventure Garden to support local authors and promote literacy, reading, and exercise. StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to wooden stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you’re directed to the next page in the story. Our first StoryWalk® will be an event where families can come together and enjoy reading activities outdoors and are able to meet local authors.

Objective 1: Conduct the annual Small Business Summit & Expo in support of the city of Jurupa Valley’s small business owners to inspire them to grow.

Objective 2: Host bi-annual events to encourage recognition of small businesses within the community to increase community support to local businesses.

The Community Prosperity Action Team centers on local small business in Jurupa Valley. During these meetings, team members strategize to reach out to local business owners to become involved in their community and assist them on promoting their services to remind residents to shop locally.

Shop the Walk is a monthly project in which the business that is selected is encouraged to provide a discount on their services for residents to use. This discount is formatted on a digital coupon that is promoted on Healthy Jurupa Valley’s social media platforms for a month.

Fernando Perez, Car Wash Operator and owner of Opal Car Wash is the chair of Community Prosperity, who will be hosting two events to engage local businesses in their community. These are family friendly community events filled with fun activities and open an opportunity for residents to connect with Jurupa Valley’s businesses. These events will occur on February 25 and May 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Monthly meetings occur on the third Mondays of the month from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Reach Out Jurupa Valley 0ffice at 8300 Limonite Avenue, Suite F, Jurupa Valley CA 92509.

Objective 2 – Increase core membership of youth participating in drug prevention strategies by conducting outreach to all four high schools and reaching at least 50 students.

The Safety and Readiness (SAR) team focuses on addressing safety issues among all communities in Jurupa Valley. These issues may vary from substance misuse to reckless driving. Our SAR team has facilitated Opioid Trainings and promoted the Safe Driving Campaign. The Opioid Trainings prepare individuals to be perceptive of an opioid overdose and how to administer a nasal opioid antigen (Narcan/Naloxone).
